A PASSION FOR MAPPING
I am a career land surveyor with over 20 years experience of doing what I love best, Surveying. You can't beat a survey on a cold frosty morning with the sun shining through a clear blue sky. Ok so its not like that all the time but come rain or shine its what gets me up in the morning and I really do enjoy the satisfaction of completing another survey.
Surveying has taken me on an incredible journey throughout the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. I have undertaken a wide portfolio of projects as a senior / project surveyor including Topo surveys, Measured building surveys, Pipelines, GPS control surveys, and setting out in some very beautiful and some very dangerous places.
I have a 2:1 honors degree in Surveying and Mapping Sciences. My survey career started at Engineering Surveys Ltd working throughout the UK on exciting projects such as Gatwick airport and Chester town center. Inspired by my college lecturers who had worked overseas in far flung places I landed myself a job on a world wide contract. Topo surveys on the beaches of Yemen, Oil exploration in the great Nafud desert of Saudi Arabia, GPS control surveys in Libya and some of the harshest conditions I have ever experienced in Northern Chad.It was a great surveying adventure where I gained a huge amount of experience and knowledge.
In 1994 I was given the opportunity to work as a senior surveyor in South Wales by Vernon Lewis of Contract surveys. A varied work load of topographic surveys, building surveys and setting out expanded my knowledge and allowed my career to flourish.
In 1998 I became the Project Land Surveyor for Laing Civil Engineering building the Cardiff waste water treatment works. Responsible for a team of surveyors I gained very useful management experience on a multi million pound project.
1999 saw my return to Contract Surveys (Wales) Ltd now under new management as a senior surveyor. Over a 10 year period I was involved with most aspects of the business including estimates and quotations, site surveys, setting out and of course the preparing and checking of drawings prior to delivery.
